Undergraduate Student Program SCIPE CI-REO 2025

The SCIPE CyberInfrastructure Research Experience Opportunity (CI-REO) program supports students to work on Cyberinfrastructure (advanced computing) projects with researchers and Cyberinfrastructure professionals (CIPs) during the academic year at 10 hrs per week on a stipend. This undergraduate REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates)-style program supports students to learn and apply CI skills, act as CI contributors by creating documentation/training, workflows, computational notebooks, and research outputs that will be presented at the end of semester Cyberinfrastructure symposiums. Throughout the semester CI-REO students will meet weekly for professional development activities and presentations on CI, DEI, and research.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Undergraduate students currently enrolled at the University of Hawaiʻi & the University of Guam.
  • All majors are eligible, non-computing majors are encouraged to apply
  • To be eligible to receive the stipend per NSF regulations, students must be citizens of the United States, nationals of the United States (as defined in section 101(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act), aliens admitted as refugees under section 207 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, or aliens lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence. All participants will be required to provide documentation of tax compliance prior to receipt of the stipend.
