Trista is a currently a PhD student in the Department of Earth Sciences and holds BS and MS degrees in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Trista’s research focuses on water contamination and chemistry and they are currently implementing Bayesian statistics to broaden the understanding of water pollution in Hawaiʻi. Trista believes data science skills will be invaluable for advancing their own research in field- and lab-based hydrology. For the Hawaiʻi Data Science Institute, Trista is helping develop the Probabilistic Programming module as well as assisting with data management for the Hawaiʻi EPSCoR ʻIke Wai project.
