BACKGROUND

Dr. Belcaid received his M.Sc. in Computer Science the University of Quebec at Montreal and his Ph.D. in Computer Science University of Hawaiʻi. He is currently an Assistant Research Professor at UH Mānoa with a joint appointment in Information & Computer Sciences and the Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology. Dr. Belcaid works principally on biological (genetic or otherwise) big data and probabilistic algorithms for modeling complex systems interactions. Dr. Belcaid is the Executive Director of the Hawaii Data Science Institute.
