Charlotte is a Masters’ student in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management at the University of Hawaii. Her research interests include tropical ecology, land-use change, and conservation. Charlotte works on projects involving GIS and remote sensing, including assessing the impact of corporate sustainability certification on deforestation (Carlson Lab), and validation and calibration of VIIRS and MODIS satellite data products (Miura Lab). Charlotte believes that data science creates opportunities to utilize large spatiotemporal datasets to better understand our changing world. At HI-DSI, Charlotte is collaborating with fellows to develop the Introduction to Python module.
