Charles is an undergraduate student at UH Manoa pursuing a bachelor of science degree in computer engineering with a minor in math. He is originally from Kailua on the windward side of Oahu. Charles is working on projects with both the Collaborative Software Development Laboratory (CSDL) and the NSF Center for Science of Information (CSoI). With CSDL Charles has been working on the Open Power Quality project implementing analytical capabilities for the system to classify power quality events and statistics. With CSoI Charles is a Co-PI on a project which uses state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms polarity of online discourse covering current events. Charles is writing a module on data wrangling and collaborating on the development of a standalone project which uses GPS data on ships for early detection of Tsunamis
