Biography

Amila Indika is from Sri Lanka and earned his B.Sc. in Engineering, with a specialization in Computer Engineering, from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. In 2022, he relocated to Hawaii to pursue an M.Sc. in Computer Science at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. At present, he is actively engaged in applied machine learning alongside Peter Sadowski, specifically focusing on statistical downscaling for rainfall prediction in Hawaii within the Change-HI project. Additionally, he is dedicated to analyzing satellite imagery to compute radiation and energy generation for the Hawaiian islands.

Research Interests

Amila’s current research interests revolve around the utilization of machine learning and deep learning for climate and weather forecasting. His broader research interests encompass applied machine learning across various domains, as well as a keen fascination with Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Mathematics, and Natural Language Processing.
