Scholarships for Biology Majors 2024

Biology is an increasingly computational and data-rich discipline, and it is critical that students gain skills in data analytics to be competitive in the workforce and for graduate school. STRIDE is here to help you up-skill and get ready for the future!

The National Science Foundation(NSF) S-STEM STRIDE program at University of Hawaii supports UnderGraduates & Graduates with a Biology-related major to expand their awareness,and skill set, into Data Science techniques, methods and projects.

This program has two components:

1. Provide tuition support (scholarships) to talented students who have financial need and
2. Provide professional development and training opportunities to add Data Science to your professional skill set as a future biologist.

No prior experience with coding or advanced math is required.

Scholarship Highlights:

Undergraduates may receive up to $21,600 over three years.
Graduates may receive up to $9,000 over three years.

Who Should Apply:

• Students enrolled in eligible Biology-related undergraduate or graduate programs.
• Must have a GPA of over 3.0.
• Must have financial needs that are not currently met.
• Student must be citizens of the United States, nationals of the United States (as defined in section 101(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act), aliens admitted as refugees under section 207 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, or aliens lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence)
