Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis in Ecology and Evolution
ABOUT EVENT
Description
This workshop will provide an introduction to Systematic Review methods, which represent a formalized approach to identifying a body of evidence for a specific topic. Systematic review methods increase transparency and reproducibility and reduce bias in literature reviews and quantitative syntheses. Methods of assessment will be introduced, suitable for qualitative (e.g. narrative) reviews and quantitative (e.g. meta-analysis) syntheses. Examples from ecology and evolution will be used, but these methods are general and can be applied in any field.
Prerequisites
- none
Learning objectives
Participants will gain an understanding of systematic review methods that enhance transparency and reproducibility while minimizing bias in literature reviews and quantitative syntheses. Attendees will learn how to apply assessment methods suitable for both qualitative and quantitative reviews across various fields, with a focus on examples from ecology and evolution.
Tools Used for this workshop
- Search databases (Web of Science) and meta-analysis packages in R and other tools will be discussed.
