Building AI-Powered Computational Cameras for 3D Imaging
ABOUT EVENT
Description
This workshop will be led by Dr. Huaijin Chen.
This workshop provides an overview of computational photography and 3D imaging, emphasizing the underlying principles and recent technological advancements in the field. Participants will engage in lectures that examine various hardware and software approaches to 3D imaging, supplemented by hands-on demonstrations of contemporary AI-powered 3D imaging models. The program is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of digital imaging systems and to facilitate the exploration of computational imaging techniques across a range of applications relevant to their fields.
Phase 1: Lectures and Q&A on computational photography.
Phase 2: DIY 3D camera and real-time 3D capture (webcam and GPU laptop required).
Prerequisites
Participants are requested to familiarize themselves with the following resources:
- PyTorch
- Digital Photography
- Computational Photography
- Have a webcam and a GPU laptop (a gaming laptop with NVIDIA card or a Macbook Pro with M1-M4 chips) if you would like to implement a sample AI 3D camera during the workshop.
Learning objectives
By the end of the workshop, participants will understand the basics of computational photography, the various ways of performing 3D imaging, and learn how to set up their own 3D camera and perform real-world 3D imaging with a webcam and monocular 3D AI model.
