Introduction to Video Game Design
ABOUT EVENT
Workshop Description
One way to define a game is “voluntary engagement with unnecessary obstacles” (Jane McGonigal). From hard-core games that take dozens of hours to complete to casual games played in brief intervals – games, both tabletop and digital, have become a ubiquitous pastime for people of all age groups and fuel a billion-dollars industry. And also… they are fun! In this workshop we will talk about what makes games what they are and engage in activities that will help us understand existing games and ideate new ones. In the workshop we will also introduce different roles in the design team and suggest additional resources for interested participants.
