Introduction on Code Quality
This FREE workshop is sponsored by the University of Hawai?i Information Technology Service Cyberinfrastructure group and Hawaii Data Science Institute (HI-DSI)
This workshop is designed to help participants understand the importance of code quality and learn techniques and tools to enhance and evaluate code quality. We will cover the concepts of unit testing, code coverage, code smells, and linguistic antipatterns. Additionally, we will discuss the typical code quality issues that occur in data science software.
Participants should have a good understanding of programming concepts and have hands-on experience in Java and/or Python.
By the end of this workshop attendees will be able to:
Write test cases
Understand the typical bad coding practices they should avoid
Utilize tools available to detect issues
